4 Healthiest Fruits for Your Diet

by Skopje Macedonsko

Before we even start, let’s just say that all fruits are healthy and it’s impossible to rank them in order. While we do agree that there are some exceptions, different fruits offer different things to the table.

Another thing that we will agree with is the fact that people don’t consume fruits as much as they should. Eating a serving of fruit a day can be the difference between life and death. As a matter of fact, a large survey conducted by NCBI found that the leading cause of death in the United States is that people don’t eat enough fruit.

So with that in mind, let’s have a look at the healthiest fruits that you should include in your diet.

1.  Goji Berries

The newest superfood on the block is the goji berry. Goji berries are native to China, and they have been used in Chinese medicine for well over 3.000 years. As a matter of fact, goji berries are mentioned in one of the oldest medicine books in Chinese culture. There are a few types of goji berries found in the world. The most common one is the red goji berry, which is very nutritious. They contain 6 grams of fiber in an 85-gram serving and we would need a whole article on its own to explain the rest. The rarest of the goji family is the Black Goji Berry. The black one is considered to be up to 50 times more potent and powerful than the red! They are an excellent source of antioxidants, they are excellent for the immune system, they protect against cancer, promote healthy skin, excellent for your sight, and many more. One of the best health tips we could give you is to look up more on these magnificent health bombs.

Without a shadow of a doubt, we can say that any fruit that is part of the berry family is an excellent source of vitamins and nutrients. Raspberries are no different due to the fact that they are full of fiber, phytonutrients, and antioxidants. In a study conducted in 2014, raspberries were found to be second best in potency behind the Black Goji Berry. A 60 gram serving of raspberries has slowed the growth of colorectal cancer cells in a matter of 4 weeks.

3. Cranberries

Much like goji and raspberries, cranberries pack a similar punch in terms of phytochemicals. Cranberries have been found to be excellent against the strains of bacteria that cause urinary infections. These little health bombs are similar in potency to raspberries, they are high in vitamins and nutrients, and they are excellent immune system boosters.

4. Blueberries

Yet another berry family member on our list, blueberries are phytonutrient powerhouses. Blueberries are more common than the previously mentioned ones, although every fruit on our list (with an exception to Black Goji Berries) can be easily acquired at your local grocery store. They are low on calories and they are excellent for maintaining good blood sugar. This is because the fibers in blueberries have been found to be slow down the release of glucose into the bloodstream, effectively controlling the blood sugar levels in your body. Blueberries are also good for maintaining good heart health, lowering LDL cholesterol, lowering the buildup of plaque, and protect the brain from oxidative stress.
